The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme is a rigorous, two-year pre-university curriculum for students aged 16 to 19. Respected by elite universities and global employers, the program develops essential critical thinking, communication, and research skills.<\/span><\/p>

To earn the IB Diploma, students must complete six courses, selecting at least one from each of the following groups: Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, and the Arts. In addition, students must complete the “Core” requirements: a 4,000-word <\/span>Extended Essay (EE)<\/b>, the <\/span>Theory of Knowledge (TOK)<\/b> course, and a <\/span>Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS)<\/b> project.<\/span><\/p>

AEI\u2019s IB Curriculum<\/span><\/h3>

We offer specialized IB small-group and one-on-one courses for students from <\/span>Taipei American School (TAS), Taipei European School (TES), Kuei Shan School, Kang Chiao International School, Xiamen International School (XIS)<\/b>, and other leading institutions. Our faculty includes IB-certified instructors with years of experience teaching within international school environments.<\/span><\/p>

The IB Diploma program spans two years (Grades 11 and 12).<\/span><\/p>

      • In Grade 11:<\/b> We focus on core content mastery and familiarizing students with the specific IB questioning formats.<\/span><\/li>
      • In Grade 12:<\/b> Our focus shifts to intensive examination practice, mock exams, and comprehensive performance reviews.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>

        We currently support students in the following IB subjects:<\/b><\/p>

            • Biology (SL\/HL):<\/b> An engaging course covering cell biology, genetics, ecology, and human physiology. We help students master experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing across both core topics and electives like biotechnology or neurobiology.<\/span><\/li>
            • Chemistry (SL\/HL):<\/b> This two-year course provides an in-depth understanding of chemical principles, including atomic theory, organic chemistry, and thermodynamics. Students develop advanced laboratory skills and data analysis techniques.<\/span><\/li>
            • Physics (SL\/HL):<\/b> Covering mechanics, waves, electromagnetism, and nuclear physics. Standard Level (SL) is for students with a general background, while Higher Level (HL) is designed for those with a solid foundation targeting STEM fields.<\/span><\/li>
            • Economics (SL\/HL):<\/b> A study of economic theories and real-world applications across microeconomics, macroeconomics, and international development.<\/span><\/li>
            • History (SL\/HL):<\/b> Examines historical events and political ideologies from a global perspective, developing the critical thinking skills needed to understand complex pasts.<\/span><\/li>
            • Psychology (SL\/HL):<\/b> The scientific study of human behavior and mental processes, focusing on research methods and psychological theory.<\/span><\/li>
            • Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (AA) & Applications and Interpretation (AI):<\/b> Mathematics AA<\/b> focuses on theoretical and pure mathematics, while <\/span>Mathematics AI<\/b> emphasizes statistics, modeling, and real-world problem-solving.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>

              About IB Diploma Scoring<\/span><\/h3>

              The IB Diploma is scored on a scale of <\/span>0 to 45<\/b>, with <\/span>24 points<\/b> required to pass. Points are calculated based on the six subject areas plus the “Core” requirements:<\/span><\/p>

                  • Subject Scores:<\/b> Each of the six subjects is rated from <\/span>1 to 7<\/b>. The maximum score for these subjects is 42 points.<\/span>

                    <\/span><\/li>
                  • Theory of Knowledge (TOK):<\/b> This course explores the nature of knowledge. Scores are determined by the TOK Exhibition and a formal essay, contributing to the 3 available “bonus” points.<\/span>

                    <\/span><\/li>
                  • Extended Essay (EE):<\/b> A 4,000-word independent research paper. Along with TOK, the quality of the EE determines the 3 additional points on the 45-point scale.<\/span>
