|Break through yourself AEI’s first volunteer activity in Asia and the United States
Every year we set different goals as challenges. In addition to providing academic tutoring and parent-child education lectures, we are always thinking about other ways to break through ourselves.
So we came up with an idea and decided to plan AEI's first volunteer activity. The location was chosen to be held at the Banqiao Cat House of the Cat Guardian Care Association in New Taipei City. We hope that in this activity, we can use a small amount of power to give. Different kinds of love allow children to understand the value of respect for life.
|About the story of Banqiao Meow House stray cats
Most of the children gathered this time have pets at home, but this is their first time to have close contact with cats. Knowing this, volunteers from the association began to introduce the environment and how to interact with the cats one by one. Since cats are highly sensitive animals, some techniques are required when first contacting them. For example, before touching the cats, reach out your hand and let them smell them to let them lower their guard through the smell; if you are afraid of being bitten, you can also Make your hands into a fist shape. Volunteers explained in detail to help children take the first step in contact with cats.
Most of the stray cats in this association are cat lovers from various regions who reported rescues and then transferred them here. They all have their own stories.
For example, "Lai Lai" was originally a stray cat. One day, he "invaded the door" and walked into the Banqiao cat house. Unexpectedly, the electric door behind him closed immediately, so the cat jumped into the trap and became a resident here. This period The video also made the news and sparked heated discussions; on the other hand, the three-year-old "Liu Liu" had been bullied and even became completely deaf. Even if it cannot hear, as long as it sees us waving in front of its eyes, it will cry through Come and interact with us. It has a loud voice and a friendly personality. Children love it very much.
Especially the twelve-year-old "Guaguai", who suffered from depression because of the death of his accompanying cat "brother" and refused to eat or drink. It was after the owner brought it to the Banqiao Cat House that its condition gradually improved.
After listening to these stories told by volunteers, the children understood that cats can also suffer from depression, that flashing paws means fear, and turning their bellies means "I trust you." They also have different personalities and experiences like humans; these Cats of different colors and sizes are all longing for love and a warm home.
|Understand the meaning of life education through volunteer service
While experiencing the process of being volunteers, the children gradually learned how to take care of cats, bending down to wipe cages, cleaning food and water basins, putting on gloves to clean cat litter, feeding pureed meat with their own hands, and accompanying them with cat sticks. They went from being cautious to being open-minded. Open your heart.
On the day of volunteer service, we immediately saw volunteers performing rescue operations. This allowed the students to witness with their own eyes that as volunteers, you need to face unexpected challenges at all times and provide rescue operations day and night. Becoming a volunteer requires not only love, but also strong perseverance and giving without regrets, just because you believe that every life deserves to be respected and cherished.
Thanks to all the volunteers of the Cat Guardian Care Association - Banqiao Cat House, this activity not only allowed the children to practice, but also deeply understood the meaning of life education. I hope they can care from the heart and learn to respect the heart. To treat every life.
